 Another masterpiece by Mordecai Richler and, By Ce commentaire est de: Joshua Then and Now (VHS Tape) Ted Kotcheff. This great movie is based on the book by Mordecai Richler "Joshua then and now". The movie is both funny and serious at the same time. It is a satirical look at the life of Montreal born Jewish writer who married a rich gentile. Joshua had a rather interesting upbringing (his mother a stripper and his father a small time gangster) in the Jewish ghetto of Montreal. His travels take him to Europe where he meets his wife (the daughter of a rich Canadian senator). The collision of the two worlds makes for some humorous scenes.The duo of Richler and Kotcheff are also responsible for the smash hit and award winning movie "The apprenticeship of Duddy Kravitz".
